HER STORY MATTERS – WITH NATALIE ERIKSSON

Meet Natalie Eriksson, author of the acclaimed book 'The women who own the stock market', in Swedish 'Kvinnorna som äger börsen - aktier för nybörjare', a masterpiece with personal portraits varied with lessons and tips for those who want to get started with stock trading.

Natalie, in addition to working as a consultant, is also a part of the trion behind the popular Facebook group Shares for Beginner Girls. Above all this she is also a changemaker through her wardrobe by wearing Cornelia Sun Collective. We got the chance to dive into her inspiring world for a second and ask her more about her view upon sustainability and women´s empowerment.

Each garment in our collection is made out of up-cycled textiles with stories to tell. These fabrics have previously been worn by women in Nepal and India as traditional saris. You are now the co-writer of this print and it´s time for you to tell your story. What is your next chapter about and in which context do you prefer to wear your kimono?

– My next chapter is mainly about women's, and my own, ownership. To fully own my own time, the company I am working on and my history. I often wear a lot of black and white but want the fall to be colorful - and then Cornelia Sun fits perfectly.

What does the concept of sustainable fashion mean to you?

– That sustainability exists throughout the whole chain; from production with good conditions, to the care of the garment properly at the end consumer rather than becoming throwaway. There are many big chains that produce lots of clothes that go to waste – I can not think of anything more outdated than that.

What are your three best easy-going tips on how to make a positive change through your wardrobe?

– Quality in quantity, to take care of your clothes so that they last for a long time as well as to choose brands who truly care. It is sometimes said that consumer power is limited and does not make a big difference in general; but I think and hope there will not be a truth in the future.

By wearing Cornelia Sun Collective, you're not only promoting a more sustainable development in the fashion industry –  you´re also standing up for human rights. What would you say is important in your everyday life to contribute to a more conscious and caring community?

– To me it´s important that you dare to stand up for your values and raise your voice when something feels wrong. It´s also important to take time for people around us. It's easy to blame the "society" when something is bad or blaming media or social media, but according to me we all have a responsibility for the society we are creating.

Thank you so much Natalie for sharing your story  – we wish you all the best with your up coming chapter.

xx
